Summary of a Movie with a different title ( An Easy Virtue)

An Easy Virtue

The film opens when John Whittaker a  good-looking English gentalman  meets the fabulous Larita, a an American car racer. They marry there on the spur of the moment, and go back to John’s house so his parents can meet his newly wed wife. The mother isn’t really pleased with John getting married to this lady, because she is American and also a few years older than him. She seems to have  some kind of reaction towards her. On the contrary of the father, who since the beginning likes Larita, is it because of her personality, or is it just to annoy his wife?
Larita, who at the beginning knew that this stay will be long and not  peaceful, will have to tiptoe herself through the minefield land laid by her mother- in- law. Will she pass or not?
Larita realizes the game that John's mother  is playing and then decides to join her. The Mother will manipulate every single situation to undermine her. Larita will try to remain frustratingly calm and not manipulated. Before they realize Mrs. Whittaker’s manipulation start to work and Larita and John‘s Love is in danger and slowly fades away. Will it last? Will she be able to hold all the pressure till the end?
A brillant adaptation of the movie from Alfred Hitchcock. The storyline is great, it has a nummeros amount of humoristic scenes and its own way of being ridiculous in a good way of some English traditions and the acting was spot on, you wouldnt believe that these situations could actually occur in some families at that time.
We have Jessica Biel as the glamorous and sexy  Larita Whittaker, who can hold anything that comes from John’s mother, who is played by the Oscar nominated actress Kristen Scott Thomas. Those two actresses will show us what it means meeting your Mother in Law. After that we have the innocent and caring John Whittaker who in my opinion does a good job but not as good as the rest, because he doesnt have the same experience in acting as the rest of the characters in this movie. We have the recent Oscar winner (for his main role in the Kings speech as George IV) Colin Firth. He will be the only one that since the beginning will like Larita and will be supporting her. His role is mainly to do anything that will piss his wife off.

When my mother told me that I should watch a movie that it’s based during the 1300 hundreds. I thought I would hate it, because I was thinking:” it will for sure be as boring as all  the other ones she has recomended to me previously.” But I was wrong, you see the scene where Larita and John are arriving and the family is waiting at the door welcoming them.  The Mother then tells to her oldest daughter to smile, she then answer back that she doesn’t really feel like smiling and then her father sorts of mentions to her and says; "You're English so fake it. You burst out laughing, because you can’t believe, that something like that would ever be said out loud." These movies has everything, and trust me you won’t waste your money/time while watching it.

Love mark

In "The Persuaders,” marketer Kevin Roberts uses the term “lovemark” to identify brands to which people are loyal even when devotion is not logical. Are there brands (or music) to which you are devoted? When you stop to think about it, is your loyalty to any particular brand logical or a “lovemark?” If purchasing a particular brand isn’t logical, why would you (or other people) do it?
-           A love mark would be a mark that you show emotional attachment to it.
My love marks would be the cologne that I wear every morning, which is the same brand my mom used to put on me when I was a neonate.  Each morning after  I shower I  take my brush and pure a little bit on it, and with it I brush my hair, that’s what my mom used to do. I will always have a special appreciation to that brands and I will always be a big fan of it.
But I have another love mark and this time it’s not something it’s a brand,  It would be Zara, if you have the chance to open my closet you will realize that maybe 80% of my clothes are from Zara, In my opinion I think it is because, in Spain everyone buys their clothes there, in my opinion it’s a  store that has really nice clothes, and also very good quality I have never been disappointed in anything that I have from them.
In my opinion those 2 will always be my love marks, and I know I will never be disappointed.

Julia Roberts Lancome Counter ad

Whose message is this? Who created or paid for it?   This message is Julia Roberts advertising for Lancôme “Teinte Miracle”.  Julia Roberts is an American actress, who has been part in many movies.  I guess that is why they took her because, she is a well-known actress everywhere, this why Lancôme hired her to promote their newest make up.

How do you know?
I am aware that it is a Lancôme ad because, I get to see the Logo, 2 ( one under Julia R. and another one on the bottle) This is why I know this is a Lancôme ad.

Who is the “target audience”? What is their age, ethnicity, class, profession, interests, etc.?
-   The audience that is addressed by this ad, are basically women, who have money and also who have similar age as Julia Roberts, and  certain girls  in their 20s, because Lancôme is a Brand that is not cheap.

What words, images or sounds suggest this?
The image that is suggesting that is mostly her, because she is an actress that many teenage girls don’t really know her because they haven’t seen her in movies, and also the color of the ad, its not that pop like one of another make up brand called MAC.

What is the “text” of the message? (What we actually see and/or hear: written or spoken words, photos, drawings, logos, design, music, sound, etc.)
The text that we have in this ad,  are apart from the LOGO, to the colors, Lancôme is a very classic bran similar to Estee Larend,  they always use very clear colors, you will never see them advertising themselves in bright pink or Green colors.

What is the “subtext” of the message? (What do you think is the hidden or unstated meaning?
The hidden message of this ad, her, why is she that perfect?, She looks like one of those Sims characters, she doesn’t have any expression, why don’t they show the actual age she has ? Its seems like she has gone through Photoshop a million times, she looks unreal

What “tools of persuasion” are used, from the “Language of Persuasion” handout and how do you know?

The tool of persuasion is beautiful people, they used Beautiful people, to  attract us to buy this product.

What positive messages are presented in the ad
That if someone with that fame like Julia Roberts advertises for this brand that it has to be good, I mean you sort of believe it, you don’t doubt that they are going to lie at you.

What negative messages are presented in the ad?
The message is her, why is she that perfect? is it the make up ? IS it her? Or is  it the Photoshop that they had used, for the ad.

What part of the story is not being told?
The story is not being told is the real aspect of Julia Roberts, why is she that perfect? IS she really wearing the makeup she is advertising? So I that the reason why she doesn’t have any expression on her face ? So why would anyone want look like her?

Nichole Kidman Chanel

Surrealism : The Sleep by Salvador Dali

The Sleep by Dali (1937) deals with the Freudian theme of the world of dreams that has fascinated  Surrealists, which had believed  that the freedom of the subconsciousness could be tapped  could be tapped into art

Rihanna Concert Zuerich November 2011

This Monday I went with my best friend Manu, to the concert of Rihanna at Hallenstadium. I wasn’t a really big fan of her before I left, because of what i read about her, that she lip sings, that she doesn’t know how to dance. After seeing her last Night, I thought that you can’t always believe what people say about someone, sometimes you have to go and see it for yourself.
